Autos Fans: Whats a good second car

    Try to find an older Japanese car that isn't a Civic or Corolla or similar. Typically Nissans and Mazdas are good for this. The reason I say avoid Civic and Corolla is that they're not only common cars in wrecks with young drivers involved, but they are easy to steal and therefore are easy targets. That said, your insurance will also be quite high.

    I'm actually very partial to Honda- (21 year old in a 2003 Odyssey and LOVE it)

    If your insurance company is as stupid as ICBC, try to also avoid 2 doors and the color red. (Reason? Pffff- ask ICBC...)

    The cheapest insurance I ever paid for a car was that for a 1974 Volkswagen Camper Van. If you like the old VWs, they're easy to work on yourself, usually increase in value with age and have cheap insurance.
